OwlsNestBard

Name:
Location: Shire of Trisel, Trimaris

I am in my late forties, a proud husband, father, and a bard. I am a book pedlar by trade and a bookman by vocation. I am a romantic, a realist, and a Believer. I like a good joke, and a bad one even better. I admire all ladies for the innate beauty that is in each one, but my heart is sworn to the fair and gentle Lady Lorelei, who has consented to share my life and my name.

Counterpoint and Turn In

Build the fires high
For evening is nigh.
Let the hall be ablaze
With the warmth of the light.
Set table and board.
Seat Lady and Lord.
Tis the ending of day
And the coming of night.
All now gathered in
Break bread once again;
The cares and the worries
Of day left behind.
The minstrel descends.
The music begins;
The words and the melody
By art entwined.

My Lady, your hand.
Here now with me stand.
Let now your heart yield
To your deepest desire.
Before one and all
We dance in the hall.
The music envelopes
Our senses entire.
Here within this space
Your beauty and grace
O'erwhelms all my senses,
Confuses my soul.
Deep within your eye
A tumult I spy,
Of passion though powerful,
Held in control.

Dance in the candle's glow
Steps only lovers know.
While the fire's burning low
You hold my heart.
Counterpoint and turn in.
May this dance never end.
My hopes you comprehend:
Never depart.

The tune at an end,
We turn now to spend
A moment of rest
Till the music resumes.
My wondering eye seeks
The flush of your cheeks.
Exertion, emotion, which?
No one presumes.
I want to declaim,
"Do you feel the same?"
My fear of the answer
Could cost me so much.
Your hand to my hair
Compels me to dare
To let my hopes soar,
Reassured by your touch.

The music once more
Draws us to the floor;
A union of motion,
Our two become one.
Those left and those right
Fade now from our sight,
Superfluous now
In our new dance begun.
Our steps, ever new,
Composed by us two,
Lead to paths unimagined
Which now we explore.
New mysteries await.
Our Kismet. Our fate.
Inexpressable joy
That begins on this floor.

Dance in the candle's glow
Steps only lovers know.
While the fire's burning low
You hold my heart.
Counterpoint and turn in.
May this dance never end.
My hopes you comprehend:

Never depart.
