OwlsNestBard

Name:
Location: Shire of Trisel, Trimaris

I am in my late forties, a proud husband, father, and a bard. I am a book pedlar by trade and a bookman by vocation. I am a romantic, a realist, and a Believer. I like a good joke, and a bad one even better. I admire all ladies for the innate beauty that is in each one, but my heart is sworn to the fair and gentle Lady Lorelei, who has consented to share my life and my name.

Jason's Din

It is said throughout the camp,
When the weather's soggy damp,
That tempers are on edge
And set to roar.
But nothing sets the fashion
For rage and ire and passion
As when Jason goes to sleep
And starts to snore.

Hear the rumblings from within him,
How it lacks all sense of rhythm,
Like a chainsaw with a headcold
It is plain.
Hear him snort and roart and bellow
Till each cabin mate and fellow
Has nothing less than murder
On the brain..

Then it's Snore! Snore! Snore!
Like a Harley run full bore!
Till the rafters shake and shingles
Are shook loose.
And he sleeps on there oblivious,
Unaware he sounds so hideous,
Till he wakes to find his friends
Have rigged a noose.

Well, friendship will win out.
He'll escape without a clout,
And our company will sleep
Till rising sun.
We'll forgive you for your sin,
And your sleep-preventing din
If Jason, you spring for the earplugs
From now on.

Three Days of Winter

Dark clouds and cold rain
The heavens absorbed in the grief of loss.
Empty soul-aching groans
Rumble from the depths of the earth.
Sullen waters pool in the low places.
Wind moans through bare branches,
Bereft of life.
Moon and stars, for shame,
Hide themselves behind
Dark curtains of cloud.
No animals roam the wilderness.
The cattle in the field
Huddle together in their sorrow.
And even the carrion birds
Refuse to leave their perch.
For the life has gone from the earth.
The land stands barren and empty,
Hungry for a living touch;
A cultivating hand
To awaken the seeds lying dormant.
All creation mourns
The cold grip of winter,
Waiting for the spring to come
In three days.
